Hi Fashionistas,
It's a well know fact that the only beverages I consume are champagne and water, which explains my youthful appearance and charming disposition. Due to recent developments, however, I may have to add martini to my list.

Everyone has heard of GREY GOOSE and everyone knows it's a staple for all martini lovers. What everyone does not know, until this minute, is that GREY GOOSE is now the spirit sponsor for The Fashionistas. They are also making a donation to our Fashionistas Building Fund, the proceeds of which will go towards the expansion of Fashion on Main.
Now that we have our own Lancôme lipstick line, Courtney Winter, Marketing Manager and Lanay Bielert, District Manager for Bacardi USA, thought it would be fun to have our own martini. They came up with the idea to call it the "Fashiontini" and make with the new super premium pear-flavored vodka by GREY GOOSE called La Poire. We are getting a few of Dallas's most well-know bartenders to submit their version and then The Fashionistas Board of Directors will choose the winner. I like to work our board really hard. You can expect to be served "Fashiontinis" at all of our events.
Speaking of lipstick, I am really looking forward to our party for the Lancôme/Fashionistas Lip Design Collection. We have already received tons of press on the event in D Magazine and F!D Luxe. At the party, be sure to introduce yourself to Vanessa Dabich, Director of Public Relations for Lancôme, and Artistic Director, Ross Burton. Vanessa has been a dream to work with and Ross is one of the best makeup artists in the world. I had the pleasure of having him do my makeup on his last visit to Dallas. He was in town for a few days before he dashed off to the Sundance Film Festival to do Winona Ryder, Kate Beckinsale and Sienna Miller's makeup.

I just got some scoop from my friends at Lancôme. Make sure to look for the April issue of Harper’s Bazaar. Lancôme partnered with the darling designers of Proenza Schouler to create a one of a kind dress inspired by the hypnotizing Lancôme fragrance Hypnose. You can image how impossible it is to get a one-of-a-kind dress made by these immensely popular designers, but it could be yours. The dress will be auctioned off to benefit Save the Children. Be on the look out in the article for an exclusive new web site designed just for the dress auction and a super cute video featuring the designers and Lancôme spokesmodel Daria Werbowy. I love Lancôme because they do so much for charity.
Well, we are going to be very busy this spring. I look forward to seeing you at our parties.
Stay Fabulous,

Lancôme/Fashionistas Color Design Lip Collection Launch Party
Last November I received a call from Vanessa Dabich, Lancôme’s PR Director, saying that she had read about our organization in D Fashion, loved what we were doing and wanted to play a part in raising funds to expand Fashion on Main. Vanessa and her colleagues at Lancôme came up with the idea to do a Fashionistas inspired lip collection and give us a percentage of the proceeds. Over the past few months we have had a great time working together and have come up with our very own Lancôme/Fashionistas Color Design Lip Collection, which we will launch on Tuesday, March 6 from 6-8 at the Lancôme Boutique at NorthPark. Naturally D Magazine is the media sponsor and our new friends at GREY GOOSE are providing the ingredients for martinis made with their yummy La Poire vodka. Tuesday, March 6, 6-8 pm at the Lancôme Boutique at NorthPark. Please rsvp to ewohlwed@lancome-usa.com, 212-984-4702.

Our board Member, web site designer and logo designer Ricardo Fernandez does it again. Allegra is very famous throughout Europe and is opening a shop on Madison Avenue this month. She has agreed to donate 10% of the proceeds to The Fashionistas. Invitations will be in the mail in a couple of weeks.

Dallas Auction Gallery
Kathy and Scott Shufford, owners of Dallas Auction Gallery, invited us over to preview the estate from the late Montine Wisdom. There were some beautiful pieces by Chanel, Gallanos and Nina Ricci along with some to-die-for sables and minks. I ended up with a great looking mink stole and some baubles. Modern Luxury was there with champagne and martinis. Dallas Auction Gallery plans to do more fashion auctions, so I'll keep you posted. www.dallasauctiongallery.com

Balenciaga and His Legacy: Haute Couture from the Texas Fashion Collection Opening Parties
Myra Walker has been planning the Balenciaga exhibition that opened to the public on February 4th at the Meadows Museum for five years, and I must say, the show took my breath away. If you missed the opening, you still have until May 27 to see the show. My suggestion to you is to take a few of your friends to see the show and then have lunch at The Gates restaurant (214-768-3928). You'll have to book ahead because the show is attracting so many visitors that The Gates is constantly full.
There were two parties, both sponsored by Modern Luxury. The first party was for high-level members of the Meadows Museum and The Fashionistas, the board of directors for both organizations, Modern Luxury VIP's and media. I say this because some people felt bad they didn't get invited to this one. Sorry. The party the following night attracted over 800 including Mercedes Bass who declared the show "ravishing". Both evenings were great fun and everyone was gaga over the show. |

Balenciaga Symposium
I am the type who could go to school forever, so that's why the all day symposium entitled Balenciaga and the Transformation of 20th- Century Fashion was heaven for me. The speakers were Pamela Golbin, Curator of 20th-Century Fashion, Musee de la Mode et du Textile, Musee du Louvre, Maggie Eckardt, Former Balenciaga Model (The Fashionistas sponsored her visit), Jean Druesedow, Director, Kent State University Museum, Harold Koda, Curator-in-Charge, The Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and of course Myra Walker, Curator and Director, the Texas Fashion Collection. A DVD is coming out for those of you who missed it. |

Tina Craig - BagSnob

|
Tina Craig - the BagSnob
The London Daily Mail said that "the BagSnob can make or break a bag and the brand behind it". That's a lot of power for a girl who started her company with a $20 investment a year and a half ago.
Our fabulous Fashionista, Tina Craig was born in Taiwan, grew up in DC and moved to California to attend the University of Southern California. After running her own licensing company, she got a gig as a VJ for MTV Asia, which allowed to to travel around the world extensively for work and pleasure.
|
Eventually her nesting instincts took hold and she married developer David Craig and settled down in Dallas. To pass the time of day in the big D, Tina, a lover of fine baubles, launched a line of handmade jewelry, which was carried at Nordstrom’s and several boutiques in L.A.
I met Tina at The Fashionistas kick-off party at Cru restaurant two years ago. She had just had her baby boy and was in the process of moving out to her husband's development, Craig Ranch, in McKinney. Being more of a city girl, the thought of moving out the "burbs" was a bit frightening. Our Tina is clever, though, and quickly figured out a way to make money, indulge in her life-long passion for handbags and live a rich and fulfilling life in her new environment. Her best friend Kelly was in a similar situation in Cambridge MA. Together they came up with the idea of BagSnob and, for a $20 registration fee, launched what is now considered to be the top bag blog in the world.
Within 10 months Tina and Kelly were earning a five-figure income each month -that's with no overhead. They do everything themselves from uploading photos, researching, critiquing, writing entries and maintaining the site. Over 10,000 people per day click onto their site to learn about treads get advice on bags and hear celebrity dish. Vogue editors have told them that they do not make a bag purchase without reading BagSnob first! The BagSnob has been featured in London Times, New York Sun, WWD, UK Vogue, French Vogue, F!D Luxe, Boston Herald, and CBS Evening News. Tina and Kelly have recently launched, JewelSnob, CoutureSnob, and BeautySnob. www.BagSnob.com
