HEIDI'S WORLD

Hi Fashionistas,
Of all the holiday gifts I have received over the years, one in particular will forever stand out in my mind. A few days before Thanksgiving, Myra Walker and I had a meeting with Lee Jackson, Chancellor of the University of North Texas Systems.  Lee gave us a gift that will keep on giving for generations to come, a gift that will bring vitality and glamour to Main Street and will undoubtedly bring international recognition to our stylish city.  This gift didn't come wrapped in a pretty bow, on the contrary, it came covered in dust and debris and assembly is definitely required.  Is the suspense killing you? In February the University

of North Texas is purchasing not only the building in which Fashion on Main is located at 1901 Main Street, but also the building next door.  As you know, FOM is currently 1000 square feet and is divided into two rooms, one room houses our inaugural exhibition, Flights of Fancy, which is on view until the end of December, and the other serves as our office space, which I refer to as 'The Fashionistas Love Lounge'.  This February, we will talk possession of an additional 3200 square feet in the adjacent building, making Fashion on Main a whopping 4200 square feet!

Award-winning interior and architectural designer Rick Rozasspent his early years playing with big dogs like Bill Blass and Mark Hampton, who in turn inspired him to strike out on his own.  Ricks energetic and versatile work can be see throughout the United Sates and Mexico. Fans of the Deep Ellum restaurant Local will recognize his signature style, which is marked by clean, simple lines and elegant details.  Rick has generously agreed to donate his very valuable time to design the expansion of Fashion on Main.  We have already had several meetings, and he will have plans drawn up some time after the 1st of the year.

So, now we have 4200 square feet in a prime downtown location, a fashion collection that consists of over 15,000 pieces, Myra Walker, curator and director and internationally renown scholar, the undying support of Chancellor Lee Jackson and his staff, 300 enthusiastic Fashionistas, a hard-working board of directors, Kim Kroll, business and PR manager for The Fashionistas, unbelievable support from the local media, people lined up to do events for us, and a world-class architectural designer.  What else could be possibly needed?  Money!!  Enter Lawayne Schrader.  Lawayne is a super-star realtor for Briggs Freeman, specializing in commercial real estate, and serves on The Fashionista Board of Directors.  Beginning in Spring, 2007, Lawayne will be heading up our campaign to raise $1,000,000-$1,200,000 for the renovation of Fashion on Main as well as another $2,000,000 for an endowment for on-going operations.  Lawayne is also the one responsible for introducing Rick Rozas to our project.

If that isn't enough to leave you breathless, there's more. Again, a few days before Thanksgiving, I got an email from Vanessa Dabich, director of public relations for Lancôme in New York. As it turns out, she read the articles about us in D Fashion (our -

friends at D are so with it, they sent a copy of D Fashion to just about everyone in New York!) and became instantly passionate about our cause. Lancôme has decided to create a Fashionista Lip Collection, consisting of 3-5 shades from their Color Design Collection, and give The Fashionistas a portion of the proceeds. The collection will be launched in their North Park store sometime during Fashion Week (March 8th). In addition to having proceeds from our own lip collection, Lancôme is going to present us with a check to launch our Fashion on Main renovation campaign! Vanessa says this is just their way of kicking off a long-term relationship with The Fashionistas.

If you haven't been to the new Lancôme Boutique, you need to stop by. Located across from the Joel Shapiro sculpture, 20 Elements, the boutique boasts a number of inviting services. Of course you can shop for a wide assortment of Lancôme cosmetics (which I have been using since I passed out of the Mary Quant and Yardley phase in the 9th grade), but they offer a variety of dreamy facials, including my favorite, the Absolute Facial: The Mature Skin Replenishing Solution, as well as a 60-minute microdermabrasion. Waxing, self-tanning and exfoliating body treatments are also available. As you know brow maintenance is so important, especially as you get older. A properly shaped brow can take a few years off your entire face. The Lancôme Boutique offers a very precise brow design session, which promises to design and set your brows perfectly. To keep your perfectly arched brows, they offer the ultimate touch-up.

I am totally addicted to the Savon Fraichelle Invigorating Body Cleansing Gel and the Aqua Fusion Continuous Infusing Moisturizer with SPF 15. To whisk off stubborn eye makeup, try the Bi-Facial eye makeup remover. Their mascara is flawless as is the long lasting eyeliner. You might want to start your Lancôme eye shadow collection with Gaze Shimmer, Filigree Shimmer and Pose Metallic. Groupie Shimmer, Must Have Sheen and Sugared Maple Sheen lipsticks are the perfect colors for winter.

Have a Fabulous Christmas and a Happy New Year!

PAST EVENTS

They completely captivated the entire room, men and women alike.

Though many of us were wrecked for two days from being out so late on a Tuesday night, it was a thrill to have had the opportunity to see the Forty Deuce performance.   In addition, this turned out to be a very successful fund-raiser for The Fashionistas!  Many thanks to Matthew Giese/Suite, and Modern Luxury.
SUITE/FORTY DEUCE
Night-owl club Suite owner Matthew Giese invited The Fashionistas over for private performance by Ivan Kane's Forty Deuce dancers and musicians on Tuesday, November 14.   That evening I made dinner, watched an episode of Monk, tucked Dallas into bed and read him a book.  The babysitter arrived at 10:00, just when my biorhythms were telling me "sleep, you must sleep".  Putting on a cute new Versace dress helped perk me up a bit, but basically I was desperately longing for my P.J.'s.  My poor husband, Bill, agreed to join me because he was worried about me going out to a club late at night by myself.  He said that sometimes I can "get a little crazy and exercise poor judgment".  Moi???!!!

We arrived at Suite around 10:30 and the place was starting to get packed with about 200 people.  After a couple glasses of champagne, it didn't seem to matter to anyone what time of day it was.  The show started at 11:30 with a dancer who came out in an evening dress, nothing you would wear to Crystal Charity, mind you, but an evening dress nonetheless.  This girl had skills.  She did some very amusing things with her legs and other body parts.  Brooke Hortenstine and some other people were trying to acquire similar skills, to no avail.  All I can say is that I need to change the way I train!  The dancer proceeded to remove her gown and show us some other parts of her ensemble, all the while dancing in a way that made heads spin.  Eventually she got down to her foundation garments, which were unlike any foundation garments I have ever owned.  The second dancer performed in an equally interesting look.  These girls were some of the best dancers I have ever seen.

CARTIER/GHOSTBAR
Wednesday night Wade Hampton, marketing director for N9NE Group, threw a Christmas party for The Fashionistas at Ghost Bar.  The theme was Uber Luxe, and tell me, please, what is more uber luxe than Cartier Nicole Dabbert, director of Cartier at the Galleria and one of my favorite people in the world, arranged for us to see pieces from the Himalia Jewelry Collection of diamonds and a La Dona watch, all of which are currently in store for a trunk show until December 18.  Nicole also brought in some of the famous Love Collection and some drop-dead gorgeous things from their Exquisite Jewelry Collection.

Cartier generously donated 10% of sales from any Fashionista who bought something Thursday and Friday following the party.

Terri Provencal, group publisher of Modern Luxury, again our generous media sponsor, said that over 300 people showed up to drink champagne and admire the gorgeous jewels.
