While working as a furrier for Neiman Marcus, 27 year-old Romanian native Samuel Bistrian couldn’t help but be inspired by all the good that fashion philanthropy can offer underprivileged nations – e.g. Blake Mycoskie of TOMS Shoes. While speaking with Mycoskie at a NM personal appearance, Bistrian was stunned to find out that Mycoskie had no plans to move into footwear for the colder climate countries. Fair enough for Mycoskie who has his hands quite full with his ever-expanding canvas shoe line as well as his newly launched sunglasses line.
Seeing that no one else was building on the one-to-one model (for every pair of fashion item purchased, one is donated to a person in need) for the Northern nations, Bistrian created Roma Provisions and it’s non-profit Roma for All. Bistrian, along with support from his family of nine brother and sisters, has designed classic rubber rain boots for children in the distressed and frigid areas of Eastern Europe. Where to purchase these doing-good-never-looked-so-good-wellies in Dallas? The Blues Jean Bar in Snider Plaza, Ditto Boutique, Jackson’s Home & Garden or online at romaprovisions.com
